The Blue Line Extension of Delhi Metro, a much-awaited development that will be connecting Sector 62 of Noida to Noida City Centre, is expected to be ready by coming December, according to a report. The stretch will include six stations between the Electronic City and Noida Sector 34. The alignment of the corridor is close to NH-24 and the stations are being developed on the central verge. The Electronic City is the last station and this will be located on the border between Ghaziabad and Noida.

CICO-YFC JV is the contractor of the corridor and this is being developed by a joint venture between India and China. In May, 2018, the union cabinet had cleared the extension of the Blue Line. The estimated cost of developing the corridor is around INR 1,900 crore. Initially, the deadline of completing the project was September, 2018, which was later revised and fixed in December.

According to the real estate developers, prices of properties that are located close to the stretch will not be impacted much. These include both residential and commercial projects. The reason is, the prices of properties in these areas have already been factored, as a result of operationalisation of the extension. Another reason is, Sector 62 is an established commercial corridor. As a result, commercial leasing is not likely to be impacted to a substantial extent. However, the corridor will cut down the time of travelling for the commuters between Noida and Delhi, enhancing the connectivity between these two places.

People who would be travelling to Sector 32 of Noida from Delhi through the Blue Line needs to wait in order to avail connectivity through the Aqua Line, as the extension of the Blue Line up to Sector 52 is yet to become operational. A proposed walkway is likely to come up in the coming years in Sector 71, but this is likely to take a certain amount of time. When the station at Sector 52 becomes operational, people need to walk a distance of around 100 metres through the walkway to reach the Aqua line at Sector 71. The walkway will be developed by the NMRC. This construction is likely to take some time, as a commercial project will be coming up between these two stations. The land is yet to be auctioned, and once this is complete, the commuters will get an easy access between the Blue Line and the Aqua Line.

The Aqua line has been recently developed and it connects Noida to Greater Noida. The 29.8 Km. stretch has 21 stations and this is likely to open up by November, 2018, according to the report. Once it becomes operational, it will ease up travel and people will be able to reach their destinations much faster.
