Tamil Nadu has set the record of having the highest number of green building projects in the country. In recent years, the demand for green homes in the key cities of the country has shown increasing trends. The developers are coming up with sophisticated homes with green living facilities for the developers. The government, too, has established favourable norms for the buildings with green living facilities. Interestingly, a large number of homes are coming up in the big cities as well as the suburban areas of the country, with these facilities. Although these homes are being developed in all the major cities of the country, Tamil Nadu has recorded the highest number of green buildings. A report generated by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) reveals that the state leads the country in terms of green buildings. This is a positive development in the real estate sector, as the demand for green homes in the country is on the rise.
According to a statistic, the state has 118 projects, which covers around 4.91 crore Sq.Ft. of green space. The second position is occupied by Maharashtra, which has more than 205 projects. However, the amount of green space in the state is around 3.67 crore. This is a positive indicator for the development of eco-friendly projects in the country. Considering the environmental issues, it is necessary to develop green homes for the residents. The number of green buildings in the major cities in the country is gradually increasing. India is one of the leading countries in terms of developing eco-friendly homes. After Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra, the other states with maximum areas of green buildings are Karnataka, Haryana and Delhi. The states have been ranked on the basis of gross square feet (GSF) of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). This is a rating system for the green buildings.
While certain states have shown increasing trends of moving towards eco-friendly homes, other states are not lagging behind too. The homeowners are aware of the benefits of green buildings for their health as well as the environment. This is why they are opting for apartments with green living facilities. The developers, too, are coming up with green buildings for the residents. These homes come with solar-power enabled lighting and heating systems. A large number of projects have come up with rainwater harvesting facilities. Besides, people are increasingly buying homes with green living facilities. These homes come with a lot of open spaces. The residents can enjoy the green living facilities in the residential complexes.
In big cities, the residential complexes have beautifully landscaped gardens. The residents can spend their time in these areas, and enjoy the lifestyle close to nature. They can also sit in the gardens or have a walk along the walkways. The green buildings make maximum use of the natural sources of energy, particularly solar energy. Besides, the rainwater harvesting facilities have been incorporated in a number of homes.
Investors and homeowners can get beautiful eco-friendly homes in the big cities, where they can enjoy an urban lifestyle, close to nature.
