About Katha
Also known as the sub-unit of Bigha, Katha is a measuring unit used in the northern and eastern states of the country. Following the introduction of the metric system, the usage of Katha witnessed a decline; however, states like Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal continue to use it actively.
Dating back to the emergence, Katha came into use during the Pala Empire in Bengal. It was used to measure agricultural lands. Now, with time and modernization, Katha is being used to measure lands in both agriculture and real estate in states like Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Assam.
Note: As Katha is not a standardized unit, its value varies from state to state.

About Decimal
